Thank you everybody for your positive feedback on the new Party Shack on #ProjectFamJam. The difference between the before and after was huge! While I knew that the paint and floor staining would have a significant influence on the space, I also realized that outfitting it would be as vital. After all, the idea was to create a lounge-like space that could be used for entertainment whatever the weather.
This is an area that may be used both indoors and outside. It’s separate from the house and in their backyard. In light of this, I was apprehensive to utilize traditional indoor furnishings. Because this room has some natural factors to contend with and the garage door is frequently opened, I decided that indoor/outdoor furniture would be the best option. Knowing this, I went to Article for help. I’ve been so pleased with our living room couch over the last several months that I figured their outdoor furniture would be of the same excellent quality in terms of manufacture and design. I was correct.

For two reasons, I chose the Urba Slate Gray Sectional from Article… 1. It shouts #ProjectFamJam loud and clear. It perfectly exemplifies their taste, and 2. Despite being an outdoor sofa, the blend of materials gave it an inside atmosphere. The Urba Coffee Table is the same way. The Acacia wood’s lovely warmth contrasted beautifully with the exposed rafters. It was certainly a Party Shack marriage made in heaven.

I also added the Bali Pendant in White because the area was already filled. Because in my design book, an enormous light fixture is always a go-to. However, this light fixture (which, by the way, is also available in black) is weather-resistant! The power cord, too. So, whether worn indoors or out, this pendant can create a great impression.

We kept the rest of the area really basic. The old workbench has been preserved in all of its rustic splendour. It’s ideal for carrying a cooler or serving food. Additionally, some useful and entertaining extra seating was added to the bar rail. The thought of making this place a bit more fun appealed to me. My mind instantly went to indoor swings when I saw the rafters. I made them out of common cedar planks and rope. A quick, inexpensive, and simple project that had a significant impact in the room. They’re a lot of fun to sit in, and they can simply be tucked into the rafters if you need additional floor room.

My favourite aspect of this area is that, although being separate from the main house, it reflects parts of the entire house in a more whimsical manner. This is something I believe each outdoor place should achieve.
This place will be ideal for watching college football on crisp Fall nights, cuddling up with hot cocoa in the Winter, or grilling out on the adjacent deck in the Spring and Summer. So, if you have an unusual indoor/outdoor location, think about how you might make it seem more like home as well. Just because it’s in the great outdoors doesn’t mean it can’t be stylish.
