Hello there, guys! Today, Courtney (Melissa’s daughter) is with us. Today, I’m here to show you around my new 500-square-foot apartment! If you’re new around here, I moved up to Bellingham in January, a lovely and picturesque city on the water. I recently showed you my empty apartment tour with mood boards for my design concept, then my bedroom, and today I wanted to show you how my apartment looks now that I’ve been here for a few months. It’s starting to feel a little warm in here… I’ll take you on a tour!

Here’s my submission! I didn’t think I’d have enough room for an entry table in this little apartment, but I was relieved to find that my half-round entry table from my previous apartment fit in nicely. It does cut into the bathroom doorway a little, but I don’t mind… Things that take up a lot of room, you know? A table, no matter how little, always makes an entrance more hospitable. If only there was an outlet for a little bulb on this wall… I might have to attempt my mother’s rechargeable bulb magic.

My kitchen is to the left of the front door. Because my previous apartment kitchen was only along one wall, the layout and size of this kitchen feels so much more “mature” today! I never expected a 500 square foot apartment to have a kitchen like this, so I’m grateful for that.

This coffee machine has been in my possession for several years and is still going strong. I got this milk frother/steamer for Christmas (I needed one after using my mother’s on a regular basis while I lived in her basement apartment!). I use it every morning to make my oat milk lattes, and I love that it’s stainless steel (rather than the nonstick coating that others have!).

I have a mug tree identical to this one where I keep some of my cup collection. Every morning, I like selecting a new cup (a trait I inherited from my mother…ha!). We’ve compiled a list of some of our favourite mugs.

I was looking for a tiny kitchen lamp for my kitchen nook, and this rattan lamp from our Affordable Target Lamps post caught my eye. It gives texture, colour, and the cosiest warm comfortable light for nights, which I like. Unfortunately, it is out of stock, but similar rattan lights and other little lamps may be found HERE.

This weaving console cabinet was love at first sight for me…I purchased it right away when I saw it online! It appears to be out of stock, but you can get more information HERE (I’m hoping it comes back!). It was an excellent value for the quality and size, plus it has enough of storage inside. Because this apartment has less storage than my last one, it’s been a lifesaver for items I used to store in my closet and desk.

Because my apartment is very new and all of the original materials are grey and white, I knew I wanted to use my furniture and accessories to give character and warmth. This cabinet adds texture and colour to my room, which I adore.

If you’ve been following along for a while, you might recall this wingback linen settee! It had been at my mother’s house for years and proved to be the ideal item for my little living room.

I placed it on the wall next to the weaving cabinet at first, but after a few months here, I decided to try it against the window. I expected to dislike it there, but I actually like it! It didn’t cover too much of the window and helped to make sense of the room’s length and narrowness. As I sit on it, the higher back really provides me a lovely sense of seclusion!

This handmade patterned rug has been in my possession for years. It brightened up the room well, and I enjoyed how it complemented the honey tones of the cabinet, stools, and rattan lamp. That ottoman was a ‘hand-me-down’ from my mother–one here’s that’s similar! I appreciate that it can also be used as extra seating for visitors.

I was overjoyed to see that my island had room for counter stools! These are the ones I have (they come in three hues, one of which is natural). The warm wood and black metal legs provide the room a pleasant contrast.

To conserve room, I chose not to put my dining table and chairs in here, nor a desk, so I eat and work on these stools. I still have my drop leaf dining table in my bedroom (now used as a TV stand), so I can simply transfer it here if I need extra dining space.

My lovely string of pearls plant (Rapunzel) has made it through all of my relocations! She’s gone through a lot this winter (ha), but she’s getting better today. She’s in this adorable face pot.

This Ikea shelf is made of white metal and glass. Vertical storage is an excellent way to maximise storage in a compact area.

This is my own space! I got this basic upholstered platform bed on sale after scouring the internet for beds and had such a hard time picking, but I’m really delighted with it. My duvet is a light grey linen pom pom trim duvet with white linen sheets.

Tuft & Needle generously provided me a mattress (the Mint Mattress with their Down Alternative Pillows). I like it–very it’s warm and inviting, and I love that it arrived in a package at my doorstep! For their Spring Sale, it’s really 15% off right now. More information on the mattress, as well as images and specifics about the bedroom, may be found here.

Returning to the kitchen and entry… My washing and dryer are hidden behind these double doors! Here’s a picture of my former apartment’s laundry room.

This is where I keep my bathroom! I have a woven laundry basket and a nice tiered cart to the right of this wall that I’ll share in a future article with some tiny space organisation suggestions. Here’s a shower curtain that’s similar!

Thank you for coming along on my tour of my little abode! I have a lot more plans and ideas for this apartment, and I’ll be sharing more small-space decorating, organizing, and renting advice with you soon.
