This ultra-modern home has a reversed floor plan and several windows that let in plenty of natural light.

The Ardmore House is the first constructed project by Kwong Von Glinow, a Chicago-based design firm that has previously shown its creative capabilities. The home, which is located on a classic Chicago property adjacent to an alleyway, features a contemporary floor plan that flips the private and public living spaces, with social activities on the top level and bedrooms below. With windows on all four sides, the open top floor benefits from additional natural light due to its greater elevation.

A curving double-height atrium traverses the length of the home and connects the areas visually up to the top floor. The curving wall that leads up to the second story conceals the staircase. The open plan’s five spaces are divided by four triangular trusses: the living room, powder room, dining room, kitchen island, and kitchen.

The home is built on a concrete foundation with basement windows. The first level is covered in grey wood on the bottom half and black wood on the top half, with the black wood continuing all the way up to the second storey.

A dining room with a wooden table and seating, as well as a living room with windows, can be found upstairs.

There’s also a kitchen here, which is decorated with potted plants and is linked to the eating area.

The kitchen is simple, with light-stained cabinetry, white stone worktops, and a breakfast bar on the kitchen island.

To maximize the amount of natural light in the kitchen, a backsplash is replaced with a window.

The front is dotted with windows, which flood the floor with light and provide some vistas.

The living area features comfortable and stylish modern furniture, as well as an eye-catching table and some potted plants.

A curving balustrade and a little corridor with storage, seats, and potted plants may be found.

The bedroom is modestly furnished, with closets, a bed, a few chairs, and one window.

With a circular mirror, a basin, and some lighting on the walls, the bathroom is kept simple.

In this little area, open shelves provide enough storage.

This is how the home seems from the outside.
