Renovating a home isn’t a cheap task; it eats up too much of your money and no one can pretend that it comes easy. But the good news is that now you don’t have to replace your whole setting to renovate the house. Here are a few designer hacks that would let you bring a refreshing touch to your home without too much changes and cost. We had a chat with designers around the world and asked them what would be that one thing they would fondly update in order to change the complete look of the house by spending a little money.
Colour Changes– The best and the most noticeable thing to do in your room for renovation is change the wall painting colour. Designer Annie Elliot says that all she did to her bedroom was changed the colour of the walls from yolk yellow to blush pink. After living in the same room for 6 years this was a great change and even without changing the furnisher she gave her room a new life at the least cost.

Change the layout– Changing the whole layout of your home would cost you next to nothing and designers says that although it might bring strain to your back but shifting the furnisher could be refreshing as new. When you shift your sofa or bed from one wall to another the whole room looks new. Annie Elliot suggest that you can even change the whole appearance of the home by shifting various things from one room to another, like bringing a side table to the bedroom while shifting the bookshelf to the living room.

Tabletop décor– You might be thinking what difference does it make by just changing the table top, but it does. They bring an overall difference to the whole outlook of the room. Replace the table top accessories every once in a while like changing the candle stand or the flower vase and make the change felt.

Cushion and pillows– If you want a place which is cosy and relaxing, bring in a lot of pillows. Other than giving you a warm feeling every time you rest after a hectic day, they are great for bringing change to your home décor at the least cost. All you require here is to change the covers to give the room a new and refreshed look. Designer Proxmire says that you don’t even need to buy new pillows; all you need to do is change the covers.

Add wallpapers– Wallpapers could do magic especially if your room didn’t had any till now. You cannot imagine how this decorative element could bring in a formal and chic look to your home. Designer Merika Meyer says you don’t need to buy too many rolls of wallpaper, just a small portion of the wall, like above the headstand could bring in a vast difference.

Specify your walls- The walls of the room takes up most of the space and they should not be kept empty without purpose. You might not have thought of it but actually they are the most focal point of a room and making few changes like installing top to bottom bookshelf could make a dominating change to the room décor. Interior décor expert Bee Heinemann says that these intricate changes like putting a family photo frame or decorating with a themed photo wall are minor changes that may change the whole appearance of any room.

Shuffle your art pieces– Art pieces are great when you décor them on the walls, but keeping the same thing for too long makes the taste mundane. So, when you want to bring in few changes, bring down every piece of art from the walls including the mirrors as well. Now place the largest pieces around and invite a friend of yours and have a look whether the new placement looks good or not. Bring in investment furniture- If you want to renovate your dining hall with new furnisher it would be too costly for you, instead as suggested by designer Laura Newman bring in statement chairs for the seats at the end of the table. This slight change of replacing host chairs with modern statement chairs would be a remarkable transformation and you wouldn’t have to spend a lot.

Install a new pattern- Designer Nicole Croughan says that when you bring in too many pattern together, the place looks shabby and unorganized. You should start small and focus your attention first on stuff like lamps, rugs, wall paintings etc. These minute things could be easily adapted without much expense and would also make the necessary change you wanted for the room.

Fix your lampshades– Lamp are small accessory that are placed at one corner of the room but even changing the lamp shades can bring in a major change to the appearance of the room, especially when you put on the light. When you bring in solid shades they would either illuminate the light upwards or downwards creating a dramatic moody effect to the room. If you go with translucent shades it would give away too much of shadows and indirect lights which would give the place an airy feeling thus changing the mood of the room accordingly.
